The Con-Cadman Affair Goes to the Character of the Conservative Party

I am up to my ears in the Alberta election BUT one can’t help but wonder at the goings on around the Con-Cadman Affair. Next week I will have more time to get into it but in the meantime check out this post from DustMyBrooom – it will make you “bristle.”

Emporer Harper and his minions have some 'splaining to do...perhaps to the RCMP?

    1. Chuck Cadman himself publicly said he was not offered anything.
    2. Dona Cadman is now running for the Conservatives and indicated that there was nothing unbecoming.
    3. The Liberals fear saying anything outside the House because they will be immediately slapped with a defamation lawsuit.
    4. Finally, there is no insurance company in the world that would ever give a $1 million policy to someone who is terminally ill. Only an idiot would think that can happen.

It is sad that you say federal politics is boring until the federal liberals decide to sling mud. Your party is neutered and losing credibility - harping on "character" is not going to help the Liberals.

What about the sponsorship scandal that involved the loss of millions upon millions of Canadian taxpayer's dollars? You of all people are not one to talk about character.

Zytaruk has a history of making allegations that he cannot support. It looks like he is doing this to sell a few more books. It is sad that the Liberals are now claiming that Harper had knowledge of this and promoted it. The liberals lose credibility when they make such radical accusations. The real opposition, the NDP, must step up and oppose the CPC.

  4. This comment is gratutious bulshit from a troll. Give me evidence and example of Zytaruk's "history of making allegtions tht he cannot support." At least he puts his name to his allegtions.

On second thought - don't bother - instead just STFU until you have something of substance to contribute - and not anonymously.

  5. Anon @ 9:37 - sponsorship scandal was fraud by a small group of volunteers in Montreal - no politicians were involved at all.

Criminal charges were laid and people were convicted are now in prison. Others are on their way to prison and millions of the funds paid out in the fraud schemes have been recovered too. The system works.

If Harper as Prime Minister is half the man Martin was as Prime Minister - he too would immediately call for a Judicial Inquiry on this Con-Cadman Affair and get to the bottom of it. Do it Right Mr. Harper...and do it right NOW Mr. Harper.

You Cons can't shift the dial back to the sponsorship scandal to get past this one boys. This stinks at so many levels and Canadians already know it and are appalled at the fundamental character flaws and breathtaking poor judgment of those Conservative Party operatives acting on behalf of your leader....and unfortunately, MY Prime Minister.

Harper has 2 inquiry issues now that deal with the integrity of the Office of the Prime Minister, his own Cadman Affair and that of his buddy and mentor Brian Mulroney.

Accountability, transparency, integrity...just how well do you guys wear theses values?

"sponsorship scandal was fraud by a small group of volunteers in Montreal - no politicians were involved at all."

LOL - I hope you obviously do not believe this. Canadians kicked out the liberals largely because of this (not Harper's ideas!) - that is proof enough for me that the liberals were involved. To say that the Liberals were not involved in the sponsorship scandal is to defy all logic and comprehension - as such, there is really no way to respond to it.

  7. Anon @ 8:50 - yes I believe it because that is exactly wht the Gomery Commission found out. Read Gomry's report - it will help you grasp the facts.

Sorry, Ken, the federal conservative mantra on this is that Gomery was a dog & pony show and meant nothing. And indeed, had it turned up anything less than the leader of the liberal party receiving envelopes of cash in hotel rooms (because we know from Mulrooney that that's how it's done in big politics) it still would be labelled a dog & pony show.

  9. Yes Anon @ 5:53-and that attitude and that kind of crucial blind spot is why they are inadequate as a party to lead and govern...they lack most of the fundamental tools of wisdom and judgement needed to be servant leaders in a representative democracy.

So you are arguing that Liberal politicians were totally clean?! Ken, you seriously need to get back to reality! I don't care how partisan you are but to believe that there was no political guidance is a bit, for the lack of a better word, insane.

  11. Anon @ 3:55 am - This is not about being partisan...except perhaps in your case.

You need to do some reading of the record on the truth about Adscam and in particular you need to read the Mr. Justice Gomery's Report on his exhaustive investigation into the entire matter.

I am not "arguing" that Liberal politicians are clean in Adscam - I am merely repeating the findings of fact from Gomery's Judicial Inquiry report that determined that was IN FACT the case. Where is your evidence to the contrary?

You guys refuse to read the record and find out the facts. Instead you prefer to promulgate your own myths and misinformation.

You must be one of those who still believe George Bush invaded Iraq because they had weapons of mass destruction. Or are you the kind of person who thinks the 9-11 terrorists came to the US through Canada.

Both "beliefs" were found to be FACTUALLY WRONG by the 9-11 Commission. It is another good read and worth your time - if you want to be informed.

You seem to have the same dillusional disorder as those people. They are the kind of people who self-justify their ignorance and prefer to follow personal fantasy in the face of the facts that prove them wrong.

You are entitled to your own opinions BUT NOT YOUR OWN FACTS. At least read Gomery's report and get real.
