Political parties don't represent the people but rather the party itself. There is no better example than the current Tory Government with it's damn the torpedo's attitude toward the people who elected them. Albertans are long suffering but they wouln't have it any other way! Vote for the Conservatives, get trampled on and when the time comes vote for the same bunch. Reminds me of my car dealership! When you buy a new vehicle your treated with respect and dignity. When you walk into the service department you become the enemy!
MLA'S need to be elected at the riding level not as members of a party but rather the representative that reflects the majority views of people in the riding not a particular party with it's self interest! The successful candidate along with all other successful riding candidates vote for the Premier and become our Provincial Government for the next four years. As successful candidates reflect the majority views in the riding there is no need for opposition groups in the legislature. Instead all elected officials reflect the majority views of their constituents and therefore govern the Province accordingly.

Sterling RAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31415271.post-12718867652484760082009-11-19T12:58:38.155-07:002009-11-19T12:58:38.155-07:00Reboot Alberta is all about that Bruce. Albertans who are not happy with the fiscally driven, short term socially conservative political agenda we currently live with. Many Albertans are disengaged and see no real reason to get engaged. They need a vehicle for progressive dialogue. I hope Reboot is this.brucehttp://shaw.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31415271.post-32622577929666228302009-09-23T11:54:03.818-06:002009-09-23T11:54:03.818-06:00I agree. I have been saying for some time that we ...I agree. I have been saying for some time that we don't need an opposition party. We just need independent, concerned citizens who will listen: to their constituents, to the many talented people in ABs bureaucracy, research institutions, and businesses. How many times have we seen this government ignore good advice?

No one is going to convince me that you need a label. It just gets in the way.pehttp://councillorevans.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31415271.post-87600539236972069532009-09-22T21:48:04.199-06:002009-09-22T21:48:04.199-06:00I like the concept--- when we reboot alberta, can ...I like the concept--- when we reboot alberta, can we delete political parties altogether so we can get on with governing? I suggest we adopt "the party's over" as the slogan for the movement--- something akin to the "save the party" ads promoting sensible drinking on Whyte avenue.rmnoreply@blogger.com
