If you enjoy this then you will want to hear the speakers (including Gwynne Dyer) and participate in the public dialogues happening May 31 in Calgary and June 1 in Edmonton on the theme "Learning Our Way to the Next Alberta." You can learn more and buy tickets ($10) online at http://www.learningourway.ca/ Ticket sales end Noon on Friday May 28 so you will want to act now.

I attended the Calgary session on May 31 and want to thank you, Ken for getting this conversation started. I am in the middle of Gwynne's "Climate Wars" and am educating myself about the state of global warming and am surprised and concerned for Alberta's future.
During the May 31 session, I was surprised that alternate energy sources (exports) from Alberta was not brought up...wind, solar, thermal etc (although I do realize that the conversation was centred on education).
The existing government obviously does not share our point of view of the importance of education...cuts to education causing Alberta to lose many teachers. I personally work with Adult Education - non credit - lifelong learning - and although we did not receive cuts to our base grants (which are a pittance anyway), we are seeing less money available for foundational learning projects. We are being expected to more with less and I'm wondering if this is the start to a new existance in Alberta or the world for that matter.
