Further to the previous post on Clinton's assassination comments about Bobby Kennedy - Keith Olbermann has obvously made up his mind about her position, the appropriateness and the motivation behind her comments.
He provides a litany of examples of the inherent violence of the American political culture. Says Clinton should know better and can't be forgiven for this comment.
Bobby Kennedy Jr. has already endorsed Hillary Clinton http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22024587/
...and is quoted in the New York Times helping her with damage control over the comments about his father.

I remember June 1968 with a horror as fresh today as it was then, watching Bobby Kennedy's victory speech turn into another violent nightmare. I was a UC Berkeley student and antiwar activist and an active supporter of Gene McCarthy. It never occurred to me that this tragedy represented an opportunity for my candidate. By implying that she was staying in the race in case something similar happens, Hillary has shown why so many feminists like myself cannot support her for the Presidency. She has not been misunderstood or victimized. Rather she has shown again that she will do and say anything to get what she wants, as in her about face in Florida and Michigan. We have had enough of that with the Bush-Cheney gang.
ReplyDeleteSeveral months ago an 89 year old woman in our community wrote to the Monterey Herald saying that, though she had eagerly awaited a chance to vote for a woman for President, she was willing to wait for a woman worthy of her support. If she can wait, so can I.
In the mean time I am proud to support Obama who has shown that he can run a campaign that calls on us to help him find solutions to the difficult issues we face. I respect him for saying that he does not have all the answers and that we will make mistakes, but that does not mean we can give up - as Hillary did after the health care debacle. But most of all I respect the type of campaign he has run which shows the kind of President he will be - honest and principled and respectful of his opponents even when they seem to wish him a horrible fate.
