CalgaryGrit: Stelmach's Environment Minister calls for a new NEP - I DON'T THINK SO!

Tip of the Hat to the CalgaryGrit for posting a video clip of Rob Renner, Alberta's Minister of the Environment.

Rob Renner's comments in the CalgaryGrit posted video clip and the reference to CEMA proposal have nothing remotely to do with the NEP, as the "Grit" would have you believe.

However this video clip of Renner is a great example of why I think Renner is a great Minister of the Environment for Alberta. We need him back in that job right after tomorrow nights election results.

See that thing up in the sky there? That was Grit's point, and it apparantly went way over your head.

He specifically said that that wasn't what Renner said, but rather that it's how Stelmach reacts to any plan but his personal "I don't know why we're making so much money, so don't touch anything!" plan.

  2. HI Anon @ 12:54 - did I miss something? That characterization you make regarding so much money was actually Klein - NOT Stelmach.

Stelmach has to fix it - and the first step was the Royalty Review. There is so much more to do in this area.

Then actually collecting what is actually owed to Albertans would be nice - instead of letting big oil phone it in at their convenience and no having capacity in the government to confirm the calculations. That is what totally angers me about the AG's report on royalties.

Good 'ol Steve West budget and personnel cuts to "save" money. He gave us both a spending and a revenue problem when he thought we only had a spending problem...boy did they blow that.

Renner is a helluva florist. He can do for any other ministry what he did insurance reform.

BTW, Ken whether its Stelmach at Klein's table or Stelmach at his own cabinet table it is still one big PC stinker.

  4. That's kind of been a running joke. Basically, Stelmach goes insane whenever anyone suggests slowing oilsands growth or setting up Conservation areas and conjures the ghost of Trudeau up to defend his point.

Yet, in the past week, we've seen oil companies, a majority of his MLAs who took the Pembina survey, and now his environment minister contradict Ed on the need to slow oilsands growth.
