Obama is from the same school as his pastor - be careful what you wish for.

  2. Anon @ 5:56 - If you believe that you have not listened to nor understood the key message of the speech...or your cynicism may be so serious that you choose to refuse or perhaps you cannot be inclusive and open enough to embrace the message of the man.

I hope you have merely not listened to or understood the message of the speech.

Ken, this may be something very astonishing but .... politicans do lie! He cannot change his value system by reading a speech that was drafted for him.
Clinton has been catching up to him and will likely surpass him soon.

  4. Actually Obama wrote the speech himself according to media reports and Clinton did surpass him in polling early this week but by Friday they were even again.

What is this about lying...anonymous commenters are also often wrong on their facts.

Are you actually following the US Democratic Primaries or are you just a troll taking superficial positions for effect?

I agree with the premise of this article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article3602710.ece

When your closest mentors and confidents have extreme views and values, one must be VERY skeptical.

Your polling numbers do not matter. The superdelegates are going to decide the race and they are moving to Clinton in droves.

  6. Anon @ 9:44 - have you listened to all of Rev Wright's sermons and not just the clips on Fox? It is not as it seems on the edited clips.

How can you be so sure the super delegates will flock to Clinton when she has fewer delegates from fewer states and a smaller popular vote? How would they justify being so anti-democratic?

Surely you have some analysis and a reason to offer us to justify this opinion.

I agree one must be very skeptical of mentors with extreme views. That is why I am skeptical of Harper because his mentor and confidant is Brian Mulroney.

Mulroney was so extreme as to think cutting lobbying deals while still in the office of PM and taking cash on three different occasions was acceptable behaviour...because it was not "illegal."

The law is the minimum standard of ethical behaviour. Surely we can expect and deserve more than a minimalist morality from to who we honour with our consent to govern us.

When will Harper call for the independent inquiry to try to get all the facts from and about the Mulroney/Schreiber Affair? I will be interested to see what Mulroney says when he is under oath. He was not sworn in when he appeared before the Committee...strange don't you think?

Why is Harper stalling on this promised inquiry that even his buddy Mulroney called for? The Parliamentary Committee has wrapped up its work and that was the only pre-condition.

Could it have something to do with Mulroney being one of Harper's "closest mentors and confidents" with "extreme views and values?"

Don't you dare try and defend Rev Wright! I now know you are Obama-blinded if you seriously think that Wright should not be denounced in the strongest of terms.

Fox found the clip but EVERY media outlet in the country have recasted it. And why not? Obama still has a chance of becoming President and he should be thoroughly vetted. And that includes his underlying value system.

That Obama won't win because rich white people won't vote for him and are holding him down. Seriously - you have lost it.

  9. Anon @ 9:46 - are you saying Obama won't win the Democratic nomination or the Presidency due to "rich white people" not voting for him.

Rich white people who vote Democrat or Republican will vote for the party candidate because they want to stay in positions of power and influence. There are not that many of them but they do show up at the polls.

If the independents and ordinary citizens stay disengaged from politics then the world is run buy those who show up. Those who usually show up at election time in the States are disproportionately white "rich" people...but there are stil not that many of them in total.

The Dems are attracting much more primary participation from citizens than the Republicans and Obama is pulling in the a-typical voters who want real change in politics and power structures.

I don't think I have lost it. It may be more that you are not seeing the real changes that are happening in American politics in this election.

The rise of independents, monorites and youth into the Obama campaign will more than neutralize the total numbers of "rich white" voters against Obama.

It is arguable that such a rich white voter sentiment does not exist beyond the Bush-base top taxpayers who personally benefited from his ill advised tax cuts the first place. McCain voted against those top-end tax cuts but has changed his position and now wants them to be permanent. He is likely to be the default position for such rich white voters.

We will know in August who will be the Democratic nominee. In November we will know who Americans will choose to be their President.

Lots water to go under the bridge from now until then.

These were Rev Wright's comments - you know, Obama's idol. Sheesh.

To even say that rich white people won't vote for a black candidate is beyond contempt. Shame.
